On a beautiful Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May (a strange sentence if there ever was one!), campaigners from Hands Off HRI ran a stall at the well attended Lepton Gala. With traditional gala games like a hook a duck, the stall went down well with local children and residents. With a stack of information leaflets, we were able to keep the residents updated on the battle to save our local hospital, and many people came up to the stall to thank us for fighting on their behalf.
But it is only through community support, like we received at Lepton Gala, that we can continue the fight to save our HRI. Without the backing of the residents of Huddersfield and wider Kirklees, we would not have been able to bring the Judicial Review against the CCG and local Trust, and so our heartfelt thanks will always be to the people of Kirklees for standing behind us.
All in all, £105.35 was raised that will help towards the legal challenge against the decision to close our hospital. On we fight!!
