Re Hands Off HRI, Wednesday 28th February, Lobbying IRP and Parliament
You will be aware that the IRP will be very soon concluding its oversight of the local NHS Reconfiguration following a JHSC referral to the Secretary of State. Hands Off HRI, together with 38 Degrees, have been collecting signatures to submit to the Panel. We will be delivering the petitions on Wednesday 28th February at the Department of Health. At the same time, a smaller delegation from our Committee will be meeting with Jeremy Corbyn to secure a commitment from the Leader of the Opposition to reprieve our hospital.
These events will be followed by a rally in Westminster Palace to discuss the future of the NHS with leading politicians. Paula Sherriff has booked the Committee Room but all will be welcome to attend and we hope politicians from all political parties. We are inviting you to join us for the day and also to invite your MPs to attend the meeting in committee Room 16 from 1pm. The room is booked until 4pm. It will be of interest to know that ITV and BBC will be covering the event and travelling down with us for the day.
Our coach leaves St Georges Square at 6am and will return around 9.30pm. Tickets are £10 unwaged and £20 waged and can be purchased from Kirklees UNISON, 4 New North Parade, Huddersfield in office hours, tel 01484 511826. We hope you can join us and help us to take our case to the IRP.
