On Bank Holiday Monday, members of the Hands Off HRI campaign group set up a fundraising stall at the Meltham Scarecrow Festival. With live music and entertainment throughout the day to go along with the lovely weather we had for a change on a Bank Holiday, the event was a very busy one with £467 raised on the stall itself, along with an additional £26 raised through sales of our Hands Off HRI wristbands – perfect for the warm weather we have been having!
Many people were coming to the stall to find out the latest from the campaign, and we gladly filled them in on where we are and the ramping up of work in anticipation of our Judicial Review from the 12th-14th June in Leeds. Everyone was wishing the campaign and the legal challenge good luck, as they all recognised the need to keep a fully functional hospital in Huddersfield.
The cherry on top for the day was being voted in 3rd place for the group scarecrow award! Sadly we didn’t prepare an acceptance speech, but were happy to take part in a fantastic day of fun!
